Filipino Adobo Chicken Wings


  1. Mix together the soy sauce, vinegar, mirin, sliced onion, garlic, black pepper, and bay leaves in a resealable plastic bag. 
  2. Add the chicken wings and marinate in the fridge for 8 hours or overnight. 
  3. Remove the chicken wings from the marinade and set aside.
  4. Select the Preheat function, adjust to 360°F, and press Start/Pause
  5. Place the chicken wings in the preheated air fryer basket.
  6. Adjust the temperature to 360°F, set time to 22 minutes, and press Start/Pause. Flip the wings halfway through cooking. 
  7. Pour the marinade into a saucepan and cook on medium heat until it reaches a simmer, about 5 minutes. 
  8. Pour in the vegetable oil and water into the saucepan and mix well. and simmer for 15 minutes. 
  9. Remove the wings when done cooking and pour off any of the rendered fat into the sauce. Mix well.
  10. Garnish the chicken wings with green onions. 
  11. Serve steam rice and the sauce on the side. (It is customary to mix sauce with rice.)
